My Words

My father, Sjamsuddin Usman, gave me a name Arif Tritura. A name that related to a historical moment in Indonesia Students Movement namely Tritura (Tiga Tuntutan Rakyat – Three People Demands) in 1966. Everyone who has a good history knowledge must be known this event, and also instantly could guess my ages … . ‘Arif’ is taken from a name of one of students, Arif Rahman Hakim, who died at those riots.

But now I create a name Arif T. Syam, that to tribute my father who died in 1984, and also to hide name ‘Tritura’ that sometimes I fell it is a ‘burden’ I have to bring. Because Tritura meaning so much powerful for people who had memory about that moment and then I have to express the name into my daily life.

In my family I am a second son from 4 bros and sisters.

Right now I am a father of a five years old son (2008) and a husband of a beautiful wife. We are now still fighting to have a beautiful home that we have dream for long time (which mean we are now still live in my parent-in-law’s house.
